I love seeing other artists and crafter's work in progress shots, and I'm always posting mine on instagram, but sometimes I wish I could take more time to take proper photos of what I'm working on. So, inspired by Cart Before the Horse who take the most wonderful work in progress photos, I've decided to start posting some better quality photos of the things I'm currently working on.
This isn't technically desk of the day, because it's yesterdays desk. I've been working on these Adventure time dolls for a while now, today they're finally ready for me to add the details and varnish them!
As you can see, the matryoshka photo shoot soon turned into a Tofu photo shoot. He's such an attention seeker!
All of the characters here are copyright of © Cartoon Network (except for Tofu, he is a real life cat!). This is just my own fan art & I am not associated with Adventure Time or Cartoon Network in any way.

ReplyDeleteTofu is so cute! "Mama, people want to see me!"
Hehe, he's such a little attention whore! I can't do anything without him or Effy wanting to get involved and "help out"
Deletethese are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica!
DeleteI also love Cart Before the Horse! I love this idea (not that I've seen Adventure Time) and your cat is just TOO cute :D
ReplyDeleteYou seriously need it on your to watch list for when you have decent internet again! It's so fun! And Cart Before the Horse are big inspirations of mine, I love the way they work.
Deletethose look so good! i can't wait to see them done! also, i love kitties with pink noses! somehow it is so much cuter than a black nose!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rae! Awww yes, little pink noses are so so cute. I can't resist booping his, he dosn't like it though lol
DeleteThese are great! ♥ I love Adventure Time so much!

Thank you Abigail! He really is a little diva!
DeleteAhahahah love the name, Tofu :)
ReplyDeleteIf my cat Sam was there near to those matryoshka, he would already throw them down! And that could not be :)

Haha, I was a little worried he'd start plaing with the little ones. But thankfully he was in a lazy mood
DeleteThese are so rad. My mind is exploding from awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! <3
Deletehaha these are so freaking cool! not only are the matryoshka amazing but tofu is just *so* totally proud of himself. one time i had to take some marshmallows home from work to photograph over the weekend and my cat olive had the best time photobombing the heck out of it— you just reminded me to post the pics from it soon haha
ReplyDeleteHaha I can't wait to see! Cats just love to photobomb. He's definitely very proud of himself for managing to make it all about him.
DeleteI have been watching your progress with these on instagram and they are so darn cute! I love looking at work in progress photos too but am also bad at documenting my own work. I saw this Tim Burton exhibit at the LACMA one time and he was methodical about documenting his process and I started to realize the importance of the process just for history and archival stuffs. Anyway. Love! And love your kitty.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm awful at keeping sketch books so I figured taking decent quality work in progress shots is the best way to document it. I bet the Tim Burton exhibit was amazing! Very jealous you got to see that! :)
DeleteOmg your cat is wonderful. And I love those matroyshkas!! I've always wanted a set of blank ones but I can never think of what to paint on them. And I love love love your new blog layout!!

Thank you! He's a sweetie pie but he seems to think he's a Russian Doll, whenever I'm painting them around him he sits next to them like he's one of the set.
DeleteI feel like your cat looks like his name would be Tofu, if that makes any sense, hahah. Oh, and you're disgustingly talented.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Haha he does suit his name, because he's squishy like tofu and mostly white
DeleteMy friend Katey would adore this, so sharing this post on facebook. Great job, they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And thanks for sharing them with Katey :)
DeleteThese are turning out so great! I love them!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessie! They're my fav Russian Dolls so far (possibly because I'm a little adventure time obsessed)
DeleteThose are amazing. I showed my boyfriend and his response, "We NEED those!"
ReplyDeleteMe, "I'm pretty sure those are already for someone plus, Tofu looks pretty fond of them."
Hehe, Tofu think they're his! They're for an adventure time giveaway I'm doing in August with another awesome blogger TeeToo. I'm just getting them done now cause I'm moving late August so want to make sure everything is ready for the giveaway.
DeleteThese are awesome! I remember seeing these all over tumblr! :O
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! These look so great! I can't wait to see the finished dolls! Really nice job, Chantal.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Tofu and Marvin could be brothers. He's even got the same little black patch on his chin!
