Avocados are Amazing - an Etsy Treasury

As most of you probably know, I'm a bit of an avocado addict. I hardly ever go a day without eating half an avocado. Me and my bestie love avocados so much that she made her own avocado skirt and a matching avocado bag for me.

So, I decided it's time I combine my avocado addiction with my love of Etsy and create an avocado based treasury. It's amazing how many quality avocado themed items I found on Etsy, it was hard to narrow it down to 9 of my favs.

A big thank you to Claire from Dreams Are Necessary for suggesting the Avocado Nail stickers! I blame Claire if I spend all my money on Avocado themed Etsy goodies.

Wednesday Art Feature: Tracy Chaplin - Gretel Girl

This week, I want to show you the work of the talented Tracy Chaplin, Gretel Girl. Tracy is an Australian based illustrator with a love of fabrics, craft & upcycling.

Not only are Tracy's works beautiful and intricate, but they are so well thought out and presented beautifully. I love how she presents them in embroidery hoops. I think this is such a unique and visually pleasing way to present her work, plus there's no need for frames!

I just adore the way she's drawn the hair in the above photo, not to mention the subtle rosey cheeks and wonderful patterns!

Etsy Shop Feature: Chilli Peppa

While browsing through etsy shops, Chilli Peppa seemed to just jump right at me. The bright and bold african printed fabric make this shop really stand out.

Chilli Peppa is based in Milton Keynes in the UK and specialises in supplying wax printed african fabric. I want ALL of these fabrics to make pretty dresses out of! I'm certainly going to keep this place in mind for my new line of dresses.

Chilli Peppa also has a twitter and a facebook.

What would you make out of these beautiful fabrics? I think I'd love to make some harem pants from the pink, green and blue batik fabric.

It's been a long time since I've done a proper update..

It's been forever since I did a proper update on my life, although not very much has happened, I've been pretty boring recently!

1. The main change is I've dyed my hair lots! The first pic is when I did it purple a couple of weeks ago, it quickly faded so now I've dyed it turquoise, I'll include some pictures as soon as I get round to wearing make up and looking presentable again!!.

2. I've also bought a new printer as the old one kept dying and I really want to print some little sticker packs for the shop. The 2nd pic is of the cuteeee smiley faces I found on the printing ink caps, if I hadn't already decided to buy my printer, i'm pretty sure the smiley faces would have swayed me to buy it!

3 & 4. I got some swatch samples done of some of my fabric designs, I'm so happy with the result! I ordered them from spoonflower. I also enrolled onto some pattern cutting, tailoring and dressmaking courses to refresh my sewing skills. I did fashion design at uni and did a lot of sewing at college so I'm hoping to start making some fancy cowgirl shirts and dresses for the shop using my material!

5. I've been checking out lots of vintage and craft fairs in hope of doing a few over summer. I found these super cute vintage decorations that remind me of ones my mum used to have when I was a child. I had to buy them.

6. Another fabric swatch I will be getting printed soon. This is my ultimate favourite one I've done so far. I love sphynx cats :)

7&8. Some colourful custom shoes I've been working on. I'll post more detailed pics of these tomorrow.
