Halloween Giveaway Time!

Recently I've been working hard some some sets of  Halloween themed Russian Dolls. Halloween is my favourite Holiday of the year. I even prefer it to Christmas! So I decided I wanted to share a little of my Halloween cheer with my fellow bloggers and blog readers :)

This Giveaway is for one set of Limited Edition Pumpkin themed Russian Dolls. They are limited to only 20 sets and each set is numbered and signed. The largest doll is just over 6 inches, the smallest is 1.5 inches. They all stack inside each other.

Wednesday Art Feature: Wensdi Dougherty

I'd like to introduce you all to my friend Wensdi Dougherty and her amazing illustration work. I've known Wensdi since college, where we both studied art. Since then I have seen her artwork and style mature so much. I love her artwork and I'm very proud to have such a talented friend.

Anyway, enough of the gushy stuff! Wensdi is a freelance illustrator based in the North West of England. She has a very unique style that borders on fashion illustration. Wensdi spends hours adding pattern and flowers to her illustrations, creating complicated and beautiful wigs.

Wensdi also has a Deviantart, a Facebook page and an Etsy shop.

Alabama the Pitt Bull

Do you remember the Giveaway I did in August with Lazy Explorers? I was giving away a pair of my white mocassin shoes, painted however the winner wanted.

The lucky winner was Jessa from Pearl & Earl. Check out her blog, I think she has the perfect style to pull off a pair of PonyChops shoes!

Jessa asked me to paint her beautiful pitt bull, Alabama on her shoes. Which made me very happy since my all time favourite subject to paint on shoes is animals! Especially peoples pets. I did another set of striped shoes, can you tell I'm a bit obsessed with stripes at the moment?

I hope I did Alabama justice!

Food adventures with Miss Ginge

This past week I've been fortunate to see my bestie Ginge (from Chopstitch) a few times. Ginge is a super creative person and she loves baking just as much as I do. So our time together is often spent drawing, eating, baking, ranting about art or watching britains next top dog model on the telly.

At the weekend I had a little get together and Ginge bought some food, that she had made adorable labels for (this is probably the cutest idea for party food ever!).

She bought me some little pressies and made me a get well card because I haven't been so well lately. How cute is the dinosaur with crutches?? She's such a talented lady.

Monochrome Stripes & Ice Creams

This is a custom order I finished last week. As you already know I love drawing happy kawaii things so I was please when the customer asked for kawaii ice creams! She wanted the main colour scheme to be black and white to go with the rest of her wardrobe, so I thought monochrome stripes would be fun.

Fashion Favs Friday: 14/09/12

1. Belichek - Really fun and bright jewellery, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced.

2. Demes'tiks NYC - Incredibly well designed pieces. These bold prints and dramatic silhouettes will certainly turn heads.

3. Alisa Design - I've never got so excited about knitwear before. This shop is full of beautifully designed knitwear, sweaters that look like they've come straight off the catwalk. I think they're an absolute bargain for the price, knowing what work must have gone into them.

4. Arch190 - This shop just makes me want to pop out a couple of babies. Absolutely adorable and trendy infant fashion, to be honest, i'd probably wear it all if they made adult sizes.

5. Crystal Star Gems - Eyecatching jewellery. This shop is full of real statement pieces that must take forever to make.

Making Strawberry Bubble Tea

I had my first taste of bubble tea in New York, and now I'm completely hooked. Unfortunately the nearest bubble tea place here is in Manchester, so I've resorted to making my own.

I invested in some quick cook tapioca pearls from ebay. I've heard these kind don't stay jellified as long after preparing as the normal tapioca pearls, but lets be honest, in my house they will probably be hoovered up within 2 hours of preparing!

What you will need (to serve 2 people):

Frozen strawberries and blueberries
1/2 cup Quick cook Tapioca Pearls
Agave nectar or honey
2 Green Tea bags
Ice
2 Fresh strawberries to decorate (optional).

Method:


1. Boil around 500ml (just over 2 cups) water. Pour water into a bowl with 2 green tea bags and 2/3 cup frozen fruit. Remove the tea bags when the liquid is the strength you want. Leave the liquid and frozen berries until room temperature.

2. Boil 5 cups of water in a saucepan. Once boiled add the tapioca pearls & stir gently. When the tapioca pearls fatten up cover the saucepan and leave to simmer for 5 mins. For none quick cook tapioca pearls follow instructions on packet. Once the tapioca pearls are cooked, drain them & mix with 2 tablespoons agave and 2 tablespoons hot water. Leave to cool

3. Once the tapioca is room temperature, spoon into two glasses. Drain the tea mixture between the two glasses. Add ice and a frozen strawberry to each and sweeten to taste. Serve and enjoy :)

Just a quick note, I forgot to get the big bubble tea straws so we had to eat the tapioca pearls with a spoon instead! I highly recommend you get some big straws so you can drink it properly.
