Etsy Love - What Would Kyary Wear?

This term at uni we've been asked to base our project around music. I chose to base my shoes around the J Pop artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who has the most amazing style and crazy music videos.

Silly Shark Stilettos

When I got asked to do some shark themed shoes I knew it would be a challenge. I've never drawn or painted sharks before, and they're not exactly the friendliest, kawaiiest looking of creatures. After browsing lots of shark pictures and dooding away, I eventually realised sharks actually look pretty adorable if you just draw them a smile. These shark stilettos won't bite you, they'll merely nibble at your feet in a friendly sort of way.

These shoes are now on their way to one of my fav US bloggers, I cannot wait to see how she styles them!

Edited to add: I just realised it's Shark week! I hope these Sharky babies get to their new mom in time to celebrate it!

Happy Floral Brogues

These brogues were inspired by the wonderful work of Takashi Murakami. I've been working on some Takashi inspired designs for my shoe design portfolio, so it was a great help to paint some shoes inspired by his work too, since I seem to be finding painting on shoes much easier than actual designing at the moment.

Wednesday Art Feature: Laura Manfre

I first came accross Laura's work when she did a portrait of Kailey from mermaidens. I was so impressed with the portrait that I decided to check out her other work. I was not disappointed!

Laura's work is the perfect combination of cute and kitsch. Her work is skillfully painted in watercolours which I think adds a new and unique take on the previously shiney and in your face kitsch style.

I think the kitsch pattern and the adorable unicorns are my favs!

Wednesday Art Feature: Luka Va

Luka Va is a Lithuanian artist now living in Australia. When I first discovered her shop LukaLuka on etsy, my first impressions were fun and amusing.

With cute quirky illustrations of animals covered in pattern and colour, this art is bound to find a place in your heart. Her creative works come from a happy place, wouldn't you love to just surround yourself with her beautiful skateboard sloths, keyboar cats and happy creatures?

Fruity Fashion

When Mel from My Billie posted this tutorial on how to make geometric collages, I couldn't wait to have a go!

Etsy Shop Feature: TOSYA & TUSH TUSH

TOSYA is a unique and fun etsy shop, full of energetic illustrations and pocket mirrors. Everywhere you look in this shop is full of toothy grins, bright red noses and happy faces.

Tosya is the work of Tali, a freelance illustrator from Israel. She has an amazing talent to create vibrance and energy on paper.

Tali is not only a skilled cartoonist, she also has great ability at working with oil pastels and acrylics. She sells these in her other shop, TUSH TUSH for very decent prices. If you're interested in collecting great quality art but don't have a big budget I definitely recommend this shop!

Etsy Shop Feature: behappynow

When I first discovered behappynow, I fell in love with the colours, the art, the happy little sculptures. But when I read the shop description, I fell in love even more.

Jenny Meilihove is the creative mind behind behappynow. She's based in Israel. Jenny describes herself as living in her own tiny world, which obviously inspires her unusual artwork.
