Grape Heels

I don't tend to do realistic looking things anymore, although I do get a lot of requests for more strawberry shoes. This customer wanted some more realistic looking grapes on black heels. I kind of used artistic licence and added a few extra bold lines and highlights.

Although this was way out of my comfort zone and completely not my usual style, I really enjoyed doing them and felt so rewarded when I finished them and liked the outcome. I'm going to have to keep pushing out of my comfort zone and doing more orders like this! I DO NOT need to paint happy faces on everything I do!

Unfortunately the pictures I got of these weren't too good, it was the gloomiest day ever when I photographed these and my camera dosn't like gloomy.

Dinos & Mustaches!

I finally got around to uploading my mass of pictures from my camera and I wanted to share these dino's with you. Over the next few days you'll most probably be bombarded with pictures of shoes!

These were a custom order, the customer wanted Dinosaurs with mustaches and a skeleton dinosaur.
I had so much fun doing these, I loved drawing the scaley hearts (I did them similar to these budgie feathers). I think I'm going to have to do some more scaley and feathered friends for the shop soon!

Fashion Friday Favs - 5/10/12

1. Fnine - Crocheting with a twist. Jewellery that looks like it's come straight from the catwalk in loads of interesting colour combinations and designs.

2. Les Enfants Sauvages - Simple dresses to suit a variety of shapes in anything but simplistic patterns. This shop is vibrant and full of beautiful prints.

3. Better Stay Together - A selection of handmade and vintage clothing. Everything in this shop looks comfy and fun. I love how they've combined vintage and handmade to compliment each other.

4. Caracol Handmade - Yet another awesome crocheted jewellery shop. Full of colour and style. There are so many cute items here that I want to buy.

5. Jules Atelier - A great selection of vintage dresses from Japan. Some lovely prints and beautiful styles.

Etsy Shop Feature: Bunny With a Tool Belt

I got so excited when I discovered this shop. Not only does it have a super rad name: Bunny With a Tool Belt, but it sells amazing and creative cake toppers and adorable little sculptures. This shop in an absolute feast for your eyes (I had trouble only picking a few photos, I wanted to show you them all).

Bunny With a Tool Belt was founded by Hilary, who has been making a living from her creativity since 1989. Part of Hilary's reason to choose the etsy shop name came from her fondness to appear in public in a bunny suit.

A little Mushroom gif

Hi guys! I hope you are all having a great week so far! I've had lots of painting to do so hopefully I will get around to uploading some pictures of my newest works pretty soon.
Other than that I've been baking lots, trying to figure out some awesome pumpkin recipes to put on the blog. So far the results have been a bit disastrous. Lets just say dying pumpkin cakes purple turns them a yucky grey-ish brown, oops! Hopefully tomorrow will bring me a yummy cake recipe or two.

For now I'll leave you with a little work in progress gif of some shoes I've been working on. I forgot how annoying gifs are with watermarks, eww.

Wednesday Art Feature: Marcel Bakker

Being a big fan of childrens story book illustrations, I'm often drawn to simplistic, happy, quirky and carefree works that use lots of colour. Marcel Bakker's work is no exception.

Marcel's beautiful balance of digital work with water colour textures create the look of an intricate and perfect traditional illustration. I always admire an artist who can master the art of making digital artwork look almost traditional.

Young Explorer Stuff Giveaway!!!

Hey guys! I'm so excited to introduce you to the awesome new shop Young Explorer Stuff. I'm a big fan of their lovely crafts, their lovely nature inspired brooches remind me of Autumn. "Young Explorer is a collaboration between Elizabeth (me!) and Steve. We make zines, greetings cards, badges and brooches and have been selling stuff on Etsy for about three months now.

Despite the fact we live in the middle of Manchester, we're inspired by nature and the outdoors, especially woodland animals and mountains. Although our collection of animals is quite small at the moment, we're hoping to add some more to the shop soon!

I started making the brooches as presents for friends, originally, and when they liked them I thought I might have a go at making them to sell on our Etsy. They're very popular. I'm almost struggling to keep up with the orders!
