Etsy Shop Feature: White Faux Taxidermy

I love the whole aesthetic of taxidermy, but I just don't think I could ever bare to hang a beautiful animal on my wall, an animal that was once alive and enjoying life, and most probably killed to decorate someones wall.

I've recently been searching for faux taxidermy - I guess this could be a big debate in the vegan community, I know faux fur can be looked upon as glamorising real fur, and the same could be said for faux taxidermy. I see it a different way, I see it as giving everyone an animal friendly option. I'm all for faux fur and faux taxidermy.

Anyway, I digress, this etsy feature has become more of a personal rant than usual haha! I wanted to show you guys the wonderful work of White Faux Taxidermy.

White Faux Taxidermy were inspired by their love of animals and nature. They use a variety of materials to achieve their beautiful sculptures. They have a fantastic eye for colour and design. I can't wait until I move in to a new house and have room for one of their gorgeous creatures!

Which is your favorite piece? I have my heart set on the cream bison and the lavender deer.

  2. The lavender deer really caught my eye. Do you think my roommate would think I was insane if I bought one in college for our dorm? I'm being completely serious. I grew up on a ranch and my relatives were all hunters who would hang the heads of the animals they shot up on the wall of the ranch. I grew up thinking that animal heads were beautiful, though I don't necessarily favor the idea of shooting an animal and mounting its head up on the wall. I'm really glad I saw this!

I have the lavender deer on my Christmas wish list, not sure my boyfriend will want to buy such a girly coloured one for our future house though!

  4. love that these are animal friendly, and that you can pick any color you want!
They can also make really exotic animals without harming any of them!
Great idea, and a great alternative!

  5. I really like these! I think they would look really cool if they had geometric patterns designed on them too. I've also seen a lot of sewn taxidermy heads on the internet- those are probably my favorite!

  6. Wow, this is such a great idea! Having grown up in Alaska, with a father who loves to hunt, we always had a variety of animal heads and skins on the wall. I like these much better!

  11. Being a Vegan myself I often debate whether or not I should find antlers (or things of that nature) to decorate my house with, and I haven't yet. But these are an awesome substitute!
    I love the bear. :]
